Children of Promise is an organization that’s committed to helping children of incarcerated parents. They offer after school and summer camps, they supply one on one mentoring, and they have a broad array of mental health services which includes individual and family psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, Creative Arts therapy and Psychopharmacology. They are deeply invested in family engagement and encourage letter writing to their incarcerated parents. They’re dedicated to breaking the patterns of inter-generational involvement in the criminal justice system that tear so many families apart. We believe this is one of the best non-profit organizations doing this kind of work.
The next non-profit you’ll be supporting with your purchase is Artolution. They’re a community based public art organization committed to helping communities around the world in turmoil and crisis come together to create collaborative art forms from public art mediums such as mural art and community sculpture to performance genres like dance, music and theatre. They bring together children, families, local artists, educators and community groups that have faced social exclusion and trauma, including refugees, street youth, the incarcerated, people with physical and mental disabilities, and young people living in areas of violent conflict or extreme poverty. It’s a beautiful organization that is doing their best to create a more peaceful and beautiful world for all of us to share equally.
The next organization, The Pacifica Foundation, is one that the founder of CG is especially fond of. He stumbled across his local Pacifica station in his last year of college and has been listening ever since. The Pacifica Foundation runs five radio stations throughout the US with absolutely NO CORPORATE FUNDING. Not a single penny comes from corporate board rooms with their too often myopic view that money is the top priority. This foundation runs solely on money from the public at large as well as a few government grants. That’s why their voice is so totally different than their corporate funded competition, they’re not making money for anybody. They’re primary goal is a sustainable, free, peaceful world, which far too often doesn’t have profit at the center of the issues. A truly invaluable asset to support amidst our current crisis of open and free journalism under fire throughout the world.
Many say protecting our environment is at the top of the list of the most important social issues of our time, and that’s why we’ve chosen the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society as our last non-profit to support. They’re on a mission to defend, conserve and protect the seas and marine wildlife like no organization can. They have embraced the mandate of the United Nations World Charter for Nature to uphold international conservation laws. They have the largest private navy on the planet and they collaborate with governments around the world who share their ships and use their authority to intervene and enforce the law. In the past 40 years they’ve grown from a small organization to a global movement of thousands of passionate volunteers from dozens of nations. This is an organization that is walking the talk of protecting and defending the oceans of our world and we believe it’s incredibly important work and why we support their efforts.
